We are moving…

Filed under: Uncategorized — Thomas Odom @ 12:04 am

Well, in the coming weeks, we will do what many other pastors have done…we will pack up our things at the parsonage in Ocoee and get ready to move.

What is different about this move than most others is we will continue to serve as pastors at Ocoee Church of God!

Yes, you read that correctly – we are moving out of the parsonage in Ocoee – but remaining as the lead pastors in Ocoee.

Earlier this month, I presented a vision plan to our congregation which was passed by the church body during a called church conference on Monday, February 11.

In short, the plan includes the following:

Part 1:
a. The Odoms will move back to their personal home in Ocoee.

Part 2:
a. The on-site parsonage will be used as administrative offices and classroom space for Sunday School and Wednesday night programs – giving the students must larger rooms compared to what they have now.

b. Amplify Student Ministries (ages 3-11) will also have a designated location in the site.

Part 3:
a. The former space used for administrative offices and classrooms will be used to house phase two of Light Christian Academy and Childcare which includes the launching of a K3/K4 program. Tentative launch date is August 2013.

Continue to pray that God will bless and direct Ocoee Church of God to do all we can for the Kingdom!

A Proud Dad…

Filed under: Uncategorized — Thomas Odom @ 11:33 pm

On Tuesday, February 19, I was honored to be with the Cargil Family for an event celebrating the release of their cd – NEW!

As part of the event, Meariah was asked to play a duet on her violin with her teacher, Mary.

I must say – I have a LOT to be thankful for!

My prayer is that God will continue to use me and my family in any way He decides!

I’m grateful to be a Christian, husband, father and pastor!

Vision Sunday 2013

Tomorrow, at the conclusion of the AM worship service, I will present this year’s Vision Plan for Ocoee Church of God.

From what I remember, ‘Vision Sunday’ has occurred at Ocoee Church of God since 2004, making this the 10th year!

During this time, I simply outline what I believe God has birthed in my spirit for us to accomplish throughout the year as we are able!

Vision Sunday does not ‘restart’ every year, but is a continuation from year to year.

Some of the vision items from last year may be carried over to the new year as long as they align with the current direction and vision of the church.

As is the case in most years, new vision items are also added to the list!

I ask that you pray for me as I prepare to ‘make plain’ the vision the Lord has given me for this area of West Orange County!

Wednesday night I preached a message entitled: Things That Accompany Salvation

I have not been able to totally remove the points from my thoughts over the last 48 hours, so I thought I’d share them here!

Things That Accompany Salvation

1. A Joyful Noise goes with Salvation – Psalms 98:4

2. A Yoke goes with Salvation – Matthew 11:29-30

3. A Fruitful Life goes with Salvation – 1 Corinthians 13:1-3

4. A Clean Life goes with Salvation – Isaiah 52:11

Be Blessed!

So Thankful….

Filed under: Uncategorized — Thomas Odom @ 10:44 am

Well, over the last few days, I’ve had the opportunity to spend time with a lot of family members on both sides.

I must say, that while we have our differences, I enjoyed the time we spent together.

It reminds me somewhat of the body of Christ.

We are all different.

Your church may do things differently than the church down the road.

You music may differ from the music I like.

Your style and presentation of the gospel may take a different approach… but … if we are all serving, truly serving, Christ, we are part of the same family.

I’m thankful for all that God has done for my family in 2012.

I look forward with anticipation towards 2013 and all that God has in store for us and I hope it includes the rapture of the church.

God bless.

Thoughts from Monday nights revival service………

Filed under: Uncategorized — Thomas Odom @ 9:42 pm

Tonight, the family and I attended revival services at First Assembly of God in Eustis.

The scheduled speaker was Bishop Harold Hanks.

Here are the points from tonight’s message.

Title: Why didn’t God kill the devil?

1. God wanted us to make a choice.
2. He wanted him to see his replacement.
3. He wanted him to see that their would be someone that would worship God anywhere.
4. He wanted him to see that their would be someone that would worship God in any circumstance.
5. So he would have to see the remedy for sin.

Homecoming 2012 – Ocoee Church of God

Filed under: Uncategorized — Thomas Odom @ 10:33 am

This past weekend, Ocoee Church of God celebrated its 57 Homecoming – celebrating what the Lord has done for our church.
Every aspect of the weekend was awesome.

The weekend started with a church dinner on Saturday afternoon followed by a gospel sing with The Pickerings.

On Sunday, the AM worship service included a time of worship, special presentations, a drama by our youth group, an update on our missions project and a great word by our FLCOG Administrative Bishop Keith Ivrster.

Bishop Ivester preached a great message with three points that were as follows:
1. Keep your head.
2. Keep your heart.
3. Keep your hope.

You can watch the entire service on-line by visiting our website at

As lead pastor, I’m thankful for and humbled by the opportunity to serve God in Ocoee.

One soul is worth it all

Filed under: Uncategorized — Thomas Odom @ 8:40 pm

Today, Wendy and I left for the FLCOG ministers meeting in Wiamauma.
In order to make this happen, we had to arrange sitters for the kiddos in addition to covering the church and school.
Well, this afternoon, I was informed that one of our students at Light Christian Academy accepted Jesus as their personal savior.
Regardless of the ‘stuff’ we go through, one soul is worth it all…..the angels in heaven are rejoicing tonight and so am I.

Don’t back down……

Have You Been Born Again?

Filed under: Uncategorized — Thomas Odom @ 8:44 am

As some know, our church operates a small Christian Academy on-site at Ocoee Church of God (

Each month, students are required to memorize scripture as part of our program.

Chapel services are conducted one day per week.

I routinely utilize Chapel services to dig deeper into that months scripture assignment.

The current scripture assignment is John 3:1-16. Today, we covered verses 1-3.

Chapel concluded about 45 minutes ago and I still find myself reciting the words of Jesus in verse 3: Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.

I ask myself and you today, Have You Been Born Again?

Time To Be Ready

Filed under: Uncategorized — Thomas Odom @ 8:21 pm

Over the last few days I have dealt with things as a pastor that I’ve never dealt with before.

It seemed to be that one blow after another kept coming to families in our church.

As their pastor I was their mostly for support.

It was during these events, I was reminded that we are in spiritual warfare.

I’m troubled at the lack of commitment people have today for the things of the Lord.

I’m reminded of the scripture in Amos about being at ease in Zion.

My prayer is that we will be stirred more than we ever have been before.
