Crocodile Dock – VBS – Monday Night Update

Filed under: Uncategorized — Thomas Odom @ 10:36 pm

To All:

Wow – what a night – the first night of VBS – 2009.

Our goal this year is 90 registered kids!

Tonight, we are only 12 away from the goal with 78 registered kids for the first night of VBS – 2009.

There were a total of 132 folks on-site tonight tonight!

What a night it was!

In addition to all of the VBS activities – the air conditioning unit in the main sanctuary decided it wanted to lose power tonight – the a/c repair folks will be out tomorrow!!!

I hope and pray they are able to FIX the unit TOMORROW!!!    It’s way to hot in CENTRAL FLORIDA not to have air!!!

See you all tomorrow!!

LIGHT Christian Academy and Childcare (LCAC)

Filed under: Uncategorized — Thomas Odom @ 9:44 am

To All:

If all goes as planned, we hope to launch LCAC on Monday, August 24.

This ministry has been a dream for some time – seems that we are getting closer by the day.

In mid-July, three of us will be attending a week long training in N. Fort Myers. This training will ensure we are ready to operate the learning center with proper procedures.

We will be using ACE Curriculum.

Currently, we have 14 students that will be enrolling in LCAC and we hope to begin accepting new applications in July.

Until such time that the phone number for LCAC is operating, you may contact us with questions via email at lightchristianacademy@ocoeecog.com.

God is Good!!

Where is the time going?

Filed under: Uncategorized — Thomas Odom @ 9:34 am

To All:

It has been several days since I’ve posted anything on my blog!

Things around Ocoee COG are moving so fast – it’s hard for even me to keep up.

Here are some of the things that have been happening:

1. Final clean up of new property has been completed – all dumpsters have been removed!

2. Approval by the Orange County Zoning Board of our special exception to operate a Christian Academy and Childcare Center as a ministry of our church.

3. Currently working with several vendors to obtain quotes on installing a fire alarm system and a one-way drive at the church – these are a part of the conditions required by the zoning board.

4. Father’s Day – this Sunday, we will have a combined worship service – beginning at 10:30am – what a special time this will be!

5. Men’s Bible Study – last Sunday, I appointed Bro. Keith Peaden as Men’s Fellowship Director for our church. The men have started having WEEKLY bible studies on Thursday nights beginning at 7:30pm – come out for a great time!

6. Campmeeting 09 – last week, my family, along with Pastor Raymond had the privilege of attending Florida Church of God Campmeeting. What a great move of the Spirit of God we experienced that week! God had a word for me last week – I’m thankful that our church provided the means for us to attend.

To All:

As per an earlier post, our church closed on another piece of vacant property in our block last week.

If all goes as planned, this Saturday, June 6, we will meet at the new property beginning at 8:30am for a work day.

The work day will begin with prayer for safety followed the goal of completing the following tasks:

1. removal of fence from east side of property

2. removal of large pine tree

3. removal of old wooden shed

Please pray that God will bless us for our efforts on Saturday.

Until Sunday….

LIGHT Christian Academy & Childcare (coming soon)

Filed under: Uncategorized — Thomas Odom @ 1:18 pm

To All:

Today, Thursday, June 4, 2009, was a very important day in the process of opening our academy and childcare facilities.

As per the requirements for Orange County, we must have a special exception approved in order to operate these two programs.

Our application was filed back in April, with a community meeting being conducted back in May.

Today, the Orange County Board of Zoning Adjustments APPROVED our special exception application to operate BOTH programs.

While there are still many more steps that must be completed, today was a HUGE step in the right direction!

To God Be The Glory!!!
